What have you done recently in your classroom using voicethread?

Jeff:
  • I found some pictures of snowmen and had my Spanish 1 students describe the snowmen or something that was happening in the scene. The concept was good, but we are still having trouble with the sound/microphone system in our lab. I was rather disappointed with the results from a technology standpoint, but the Spanish grammar was successful.
  • Neelie had a great idea to do an inter divisional project. Taking her idea, I'm going to meet with Jeanne next week and set up a voicethread in which LS students will ask MS students questions. I don't know the details yet, but we'll let you know when it's ready. Neelie, what are you doing on this front?
Todd
  • Jeanne said next week would be good, first thing in the morning. Since our 7/8th graders have exams, that would work out great for us to collaborate. I'll contact Jeanne about meeting Thursday or Friday.
  • I agree about the audio problems. I have tried recording on my desktop, and I can't seem to get it to work either. There are some definite bugs we need to iron out before we expect our students to do this.
  • I recently printed out the video script from the textbook (available on the Easy Planner), and I am having my students read it aloud and in small groups. They then take turns reading out-loud the key sentences with relevant grammar and vocab from that lesson as their classmates write it as a "dictado." I want to find more ways for them to do multiple readings of the videoscripts because it incorporates so much key information. Furthermore, they can listen to it on the THT. Any ideas on how else to bring the video script alive? I may have them answer content questions about it and then record their answers. Would Voice Thread be the best vehicle for this?
        • How is the video script different from what's printed in their texts? Can they just read out of the textbook?
